Hi,

First time poster as well. Boy this 970 looks good and I have a newbie question regarding a 6.1 setup.

Where would I connect the 6th channel? To the Left or Right back surround or does it not matter.

P.S. I already own the 7100 amp which I'll be using with the 970.

since you have 2 rear surround speakers,i would connect both in parallel as long as they are 8 ohm speakers,if they are 4 ohm speakers connect them in series.

Hm, maybe I wasn't clear or just didn't understand whay you wrote.

I currently have a 5.1 setup using the 7100 amp. I plan on adding one speaker (unfortunatly don't have room for a 7.1) in the middle of my rear surrounds. So for that one rear middle channel, which output should I use?

I looked at the manual of the 970 and it had it explained for 7.1 but not 6.1.

Hi iardon, step 7 on page 29 tells how to configure for 6.1 or 7.1 operation. Hope this helps.
