I have heard the 1070 (the 970's receiver cousin) with Orb Audio Mod2 speakers. I didn't hear them in a HT 5.1 setup, but music in stereo with the Orb sub sounded great to me - very crisp and clear. I have Mod2 5.1's with the 950/7100 and I love that combination as well. If you are looking for small speakers, the SVS system has received some good press as well.
