Hi,

I'm running into a problem with trying to push 1080p through my 1070. Here are the symptoms:

+ I'm using my PS3 to a Sony KDS-50A3000 TV.
+ I'm running HDMI->DVI into the 1070, then DVI->HDMI out to the TV.
+ 1080i works great.
+ 1080p gives me a display that flashes on and off.
+ HDMI->HDMI directly from PS3 to TV works great in 1080p

I'm going to try swapping cables around and see if I can make any progress. Any other suggestions for me?

Swapping cables is a good place to start, as some cables may not handle 1080p as well as others. Another is looking at the overall cable length when going through the 1070 - if the combined length is too long (about 15 meters), you can run into problems.

Gonk,

I swapped each cable with a third, and the situation remained the same. I don't have any "known good" at 1080p cables to try.

Both cables are 6 footers. Anything else?

I have the same problem with my 990/Toshiba HD/DVD player. I'll get a black screen for a couple seconds followed by a screen of snow. I'm pretty sure its just a handshaking issue. After I use my tv remote and change the video input back and forth a couple of times it catches and all is well. Its a pain but its not worth buying another cable if thats the problem. I actually have a Pioneer Elite 1140 that accepts 1080p from my Panasonic BD30 and the 990 works flawlessly so it may not have anything to do with 1080p. Hope you get it worked out

Okay, I've been bashing my head against this all weekend. For the record, here's my symptoms and what I found:

+ PS3 will do 1080i through the 1070, but NOT 1080p. Dual link versus single link cables doesn't help here. HDMI cables work fine at 1080i or 1080p

+ PC (MythTV) will NOT connect to the tv at all through the 1070, regardless of cable. Directly connected DVI-HDMI dual link cable works, but not single link.

Of course it's not possible to totally identify the culprit. Because of what I found with the PC, my guess is that the switch in the 1070 is adding just enough noise to cause these problems. Perhaps this is made worse by a very sensitive HDMI implementation on the Sony.

In any case, I unfortunately have to plug my components directly into the TV instead of through the 1070. If anyone has a better solution, I'm game to hear it!

I get handshake issues all the time with my setup. I attribute more frequent occurences with the order in which I'm booting up the components. The other night I was struggling for a couple minutes to get my HD-A2 to show up on my PRO-1140. I was getting flashing snow. It finally came around. Wife likes to heckle the crap out of me while it's happening. smirk

I found that shutting down the HD-A2 and 1070, and starting the 1070, waiting a couple seconds, and then starting the HD-A2, produces the fewest issues. But it's still not 100%.
