I have a Denon DVD2200. I decided to try out the Analogue outputs for a change. I cannot get the sub to work. I have tried the bass management toggle switch in the rear of the 1070 in all three positions. My Denon 2200 has all the speakers set to small and Sub On. I even tried boosting +10dB sub setting. I also cycled through the pink noise within the Denon 2200, all speakers work except the sub. I turned up the 1070 volume to 0dB with the Denon 2200 +10dB boost and if I put my ear up to the sub I can just barely hear a very slight rumble. I double checked the cables and even swapped one from another channel. Any ideas? Thanks, Tom

Hi Gonk - I will try this, and let you know. I do have both AVIA and Digital Video Essentials. Before the 1070 I had a Yamaha receiver and the Denon DVD-2200 worked in analogue mode, but that was 1 1/2 years ago. After I have exhausted every possibility I'm going to bring out the Yamaha to see if the Denon is faulty, which I hope it is, and not the 1070. The reason I'm even trying this is I'm going to be getting a new Samsung BD-UP5000 Combo HD & BR player when it’s released next month. I understand the High definition audio formats will only be transmitted through HDMI 1.3 and analogue, so I'm making sure the 1070 analogue feature is in order. I also talked with Ed today. We have a few things to try. Thanks Gonk, I will give an update this evening. Tom

Ok - this is what I found. I hooked up my Yamaha and I had sub output at the external sub out port, but, not very much, maybe 73dB, even with the volume all the way up. I hooked it back up to the 1070 and turned the volume all the way up, I could just barely hear it, but it was outputting bass non the less. So, I started to think about this. My two subs are made by Energy. The bypass mode on the subs input is what I always used and worked fine in the digital domain. The problem with these Energy subs bypass mode is besides defeating the crossover it also defeats the volume control! And I have no idea what that volume is. So, I thought I would plug the cables into the ports that allow me to control crossover and volume. Guess what, I was able to bring the volume up to match the mains. Very poor design on Energy's part. I will be replacing these subs. This confused me because they work fine with coax/fiber optic. Basically the analogue out on the Yamaha has higher out voltage than the 1070, which probably doesn't matter, unless you have goofy subs like I have. Oh well, I'm pretty sure everything is ok? I will find out for sure with a new sub and HD/BR DVD player. Thanks for your concern and help. I will call Ed Monday. Tom

Tom,
I have a Denon DVD and when I use it to decode movies instead opf the 1070 I seem to loose the sub.
I have the toggle switch set to HPF/LFP and use bypass mode.
Any ideas?
