Getting the OSD to show up

Ok, got the new HT set up and every thing works great. One thing left to fix. I decided not to run the video through the 1070, just seemed easier for now and to be honest didn't want to worry about the 1070 degrading the signal.
That's fine except when I wanted to see the OSD, had to run a separate connection to the TV. Works but to see it I have to change the input on the TV. No big thing I am thinking since how often will I be changing the configuration. But it turns out I would really like to see the Dolby and volume when adjusting those.
So to make this work I have to run all of the video through the 1070 and will it then overlay the TV or DVD video with the OSD display ?
Thanks

Hi Gandalf... I hope this helps.... the OSD on the 1070 will only pass through its analog video connection and only at 480i or lower ...so a composite or an s-video cable would work fine for the OSD as would a component cable so long as the source is not in progressive mode...

Laventura, thanks, got past the analog issue. But before I buy the DVI-HDMI cabes I wanted to make sure that the OSD works the way I think it will. That the TV will be receiving the cable or DVD signal throught the DVI-HDMI cable. But when I change the volume it will overlay that with the OSD signal sent throught the analog cable.
Do I have this right ?
Thanks

Hi again Gandalf...you will see the OSD on the analog input of your TV as long as it's the one selected...so you'll have to swtich between HDMI/DVI and whatever analog cable you decide to use to actually see the OSD ...and that switching around might become a nuisance because of that HDCP compliance thingy...that riddles HDMI with protocole...and restrictions... sorry to rain down on your parade...

I use component cables hook up to the monitor out plugs.

I run a composite cable to a 5" b/w monitor in addition to the DVI out. The B/W monitor stays dark except when a pop up comes on. Strangely occassional pop ups come on without any changes in video/audio. Rather annoying fluke.
