I just got a HDTV and a Toshiba HD-A2 HD-DVD player. The DVD player converts the audio to 1.5 Mbps DTS before sending it out through the optical port. I had planned to continue using my seven or eight year old Sony ES receiver. I have audio problems with at least 75% of my HD-DVDs. I have read that older DTS decoders can't handle the high bit rates put out by HD-DVD players. Will the 1070 work with my HD-DVD player?

1070 may handle SACD and DVD-A via its 8 analog inputs, with all the processing done in your player if you so choose. This is a guarantee that you will not be left hanging...

For what it's worth, as well, I haven't heard of any 1070/970 or 990 owners reporting problems with the 1.5mpbs DTS output from the Toshiba HD-DVD players...
