don't be scared. even if you had all the small issues, it's hard to not like the 1070....

got my speakers installed today and ive started hooking everything up. man there is a big differents between 200w a channel and 65w a channel. i guess this the price i pay to have a good surround sound receiver. i must admit it does sound good. granted im only listening to satellite radio right now because i havent found a cd player or dvd player yet. im also going from b&w floorstanding speakers to all in wall speakers. only have four speakers right now (sonance symphony 623, 622, they also sound good), im waiting for a deal on a good center channel and back surrounds. oh the price we pay for floor space.

wavewright, I started out with a 1070 and I know what you mean about the difference between 65 wpc and 200 wpc. I then got the 990/7700 combination and I'm even more thrilled. Either way, you will enjoy.

RedSIinPA,

You are more than welcome to come visit Boston to hear my system. It is only a 5 hour car ride. Or you could order the amp from Outlaw and try it out for free for 30 days. (Of course, it's only free if you return it).

Aaron,

I plan on getting the 1070 soon. I have a small listening area that is part of a larger room.

I will be using an HSU VTF-2 MK2 sub with this. Will the power in the Outlaw 1070 be suitable in your opinion?

my room is 11x20 and 11x14 is the listening area. it sounds loud enough to me, its not going to piss off the neighbors though. i only have 4 speakers hooked up so far. im sure 3 more speakers and a sub will make a big differents.

Liz,

I thought the 1070 was excellent. I do think that the 1070 would be more than suitable for your needs. The only reason that I went for the 990/7700 combination was that I thought if the 1070 was so good, then the 990/7700 would be even better. However, at 3X the price, it is a law of diminishing returns.

In my opinion, if the 1070 is an 8 out of 10, the 990/7700 is a 9 out of 10. Also, the 990/7700 had some additional features that a normal person might not care about. Since I'll admit that I'm a little crazy, I liked some things like the volume knob feel, the fact that you could use the microphone to set the speaker distance automatically as opposed to fooling with the radio shack meter and I could rename the inputs from video 3 to XBox 360 among other things that I can't think of right now. Again, this might not affect the typical buyer, but I go crazy for this type of stuff.

I know you will enjoy the 1070 as I did. Have fun as half the enjoyment is the anticipation of whatever you choose to do.

Aaron

TY WR/AM.

I am building my system slowly. I just ordered a Denon 3930CI DVD player that I will be using for Redbook CD, Multichannel Audio, Movies, etc. I want to use the HQ signal to get the best sound as I am an audiophile on a budget.

Sometime this summer, I will modify the DVD player, new clock, discreet output stage, changes to the PS, etc. This will increase the output to where it can drive a pair of headphones.

The usge of the HSU VTF-2 Mk2 sub should free up the amps in the 1070 too.

Can I ask you about the SQ of this highly acclaimed receiver. As you tell I take sound seriously and wil also be using good speakers.

Liz
