Just picked up a copy of the Winter 2007 issue of The Perfect Vision and noticed the 1070 received an Editor's Choice award for A/V Receivers.

I guess, by extension, the accolade rubs off on the 970 since it's the same platform.

"Though neither the most powerful nor full-featured AVR at its price, Outlaw's 65wpc model 1070 offers video upconversion, DVI switching and sound quality that can please even finicky audiophiles. TPV senior contributing writer Manoj Motwani says the 1070 "serves up wonderfully smooth and natural highs," adding that "the receiver's bass drive capabilities are suprisingly good, too." The 1070 can perform digital bass managment on incoming 7.1 analog signals -- a feature not many AVRs provde."
