I just became outlaw 1070 owner lately and consider to upgrade my speakers now.
Two sets in mind: KEF HT speakers (2x IQ5, 2x IQ1, IQ2C and PSW2500) and NHT classic 2 HT speakers (4x Classic 2, two C and classic 10).

Any suggestion?? Thanks in advance..

How do you like the sound quality? I suggest you check out Ascend Acoustics. They are a company, very much like Outlaw.

Let me know.

Both the KEF iQ and NHT Classic are certainly nice speakers and should work fine with the 1070. My recommendation for speaker shopping is always to find a way to listen to the speakers with material that you are very familiar with (in other words, take CD's or DVD's that you listen to a lot to a dealer and arrange to have an hour or more just to sit with the speakers and listen).

While looking at the KEF and NHT sites, one thing did catch my eye. I'm not sure what the price is on the PSW2500 and Classic Ten , but Outlaw's LFM-2 is comparable in size to both, offers comparable power, and actually goes 3Hz to 5Hz lower than either sub (actually even lower than that, since the KEF and NHT are both rated at -3dB and the LFM-2 is rated at a more conservative -2dB). With a price tag of $300, the LFM-2 could save you money.

The sound is one step up from my old Pioneer AVR (only 1.5 year old). It has more power than spec said. The biggest difference is surround speakers. I rediscover some missing sound effects as I went through some of my DVD collections.
Something I noticed is some hissing on my tweeter even though I've hooked up with Power conditioner. It effects a little on music listening but still give me very enjoyable movie experience.
I'm still experimenting with outlaw. will update more later.

I just received some NHT's. Classic 3's for front, 3 C for center, and zeros for rear. Still waiting for an addition on the house to be complete before ordering LFM-2, 990, and 7075. Took a chance without hearing the speakers. I did hear the Classic 2's and all reviews rated the 3's above the 2's so I should be OK. The place I heard the 2's did not impress me at all and didn't seem interested in my business so I ordered from J&R online. Got the all 5 speakers for around $1250, which is well below retail. I use to get mfr perks and have a tough time paying retail for speakers. I saved over $500.00, + no tax, and free shipping on the speakers I ordered. The only bad thing is they will be in the boxes for another 4 months.

Thanks, PeteC. That's a good deal indeed. The deal I have now is to have 4 Two's, TwoC and Ten for less than $1200.
I've heard many good review on the Three's that might be able to justify the price difference between Two's and Three's.

Here is a review I've just found of a Classic 2 set-up. It reviews the 2's with Zero surrounds, but it also talks about the sub and the 3's. Just thought you might be interested.

I would like to endorse B&W as worth listening to. The Outlaw + B&W's to me are a match made in heaven. I know they're pricey. The SNT's and CNT in my setup ran about $600 a piece MSRP. Thankfully I didn't pay that much for them. And I know SNT's are out of production. That said, I've listened to a lot of B&W's, including the new towers in their NT line, and they sound beautiful. Just to add another line to your list of things to check out.

I am running B&w 604, cc6, and 602 in my HT. The 1070 runs these fine and now sound very awesome. Also running a Definitive 1500+ subwoofer.

I like my Velodyne CHT-15. Does a pretty good job moving the pants cuffs when needed. I am using Polk RT55's for the front, some Polk center speaker I forget which, and upgraded my side surrounds from RS Minimus 7's to some cute Bose speakers I found at Best Buy one day when my credit card was vibrating. Everyone bashes Bose most of the time, but for surrounds they do pretty good, and they have a wide dispersion angle.

I auditioned both speakers in Hong Kong during business travel. Both speakers are great. very airy, delicate highs and sweet mids. The differences are the bass extention, well, that's what I expected since NHT is a bookshelf and KEF is floor standing. Don't get me wrong, the bass is still way lower than most of the bookshelf in the comparable size and very punchy, it just didn't have the same "thickness" when listening to some jazz. I guess with the aid of subwoofer. It shouldn't be an issue. So I ordered NHT right away. The curvy, glossy piano black cabinet of NHT is just beautiful... and NHT Two C is much stronger center than KEF IQ2C.
The speakers finally arrived a week ago and I couldn't wait to hook it up with outlaw. I replace the center, L and R right away. The difference is instant surprising and I played "The house of flying daggers" on those babies. I can hear all the jiggling details and powerful drum beat during the "blind dancing" scene, which I haven't hooked up with subwoofer yet. That prompted me to hook up subwoofers right away and in return the whole house was shaking and my wife even came out of room to see what happened smile
During the weekend, I finally got my 5.1 setup completed and I'm very happy about the outcome. It's not only sounded good but also eye-pleasing which is very important to my wife. I think I'm going to enjoy this combination (Outlaw 1070, Classic Twox4, Two C and Ten) for quite some time.

As an avid fan of NHT for many, many years I believe you made a wise choice.

One question came up during the tweaking yesterday:
The 4 speakers are 6 ohm rated and center is 8 ohm, what impendence setting should I pick on the back of the 1070? If I pick 4 ohm, will that mean more current/watt to drive the speaker?

I'd probably leave the switch set to 8 ohms if it were me. This also matches advise from the Outlaw Model 1050 manual, which recommended the 8 ohm position for speakers rated at 6 ohms or higher.

I'm putting together a home theater and have hooked my B&W CDM-7NTs up in front and they're great with the 1070. The rest are old, but good speakers I had around and eventually will replace, ADC 303AXs for surrounds and a KLH 17 for center. Not great but it got me going. Likely will try to find a B&W center used.

I, too, suggest you listen to the B&Ws.
