I'm thinking about buying the 1050 for my HT. I currently am running a 1st generation pioneer DD reciever (Cheap. My Question is aboutmy speakers. My Mains are Cerwin Vega E712's, the center is a Cerwin Vega E-76C, the rears are older Dynaco "options" a-25's and the sub is an audiosource SWFifteen. For one reason or another alot of people bad mouth Cerwin Vega, but I happen to really like them, the mids could be better but thats niether here nor there. My question is with the 1050 go well with my CV's????
thanks for the help...

Yes, hockeyfan, the 1050 will go with your speakers and make them even sound better. I am using two sony speakers that came with a sony "boom" box as my surrounds and the 1050 makes them sound much better than my Technics receiver. They sounded so bad using my Technics that I had to discontinue their use.

Some complain about the appearance of the Outlaw but I personally like the looks. But it is the sound that it produces that no other receiver in the price range of the 1050 can touch it. Go get you one, you'll be glad you did.

Hey Hockyfan I was just wondering do you like your Cerwin Vega E-76C center channel. You see odds are most of my HT setup will have Cerwin Vega in it. I already use a pair of E-710's for 2channel setup as of now.

hey Mark, when you say the 1050 makes your speakers sound better, what exactly are you referring to, and also, how do you have your speakers setup through the 1050 ? I just purchased one last week and finally hooked it up last night. To tell you the truth after setting my Polk RT55i's to small and crossover setting at 80hz, I don't get as much as a punch off this thing as my old Sony 2x50 2 channel receiver that I purchased 10 years ago.

Jay,

My speakers sound better because they are being driven with a better receiver. Don't ask me to explain it in technical terms, maybe someone else can do that. The insides of the 1050 are completely different than the Technics receiver I had. The power is much "cleaner" and it brings out much more of what is on the DVD and CD's.

The sony speakers I mentioned when hooked up to my Technics sounded hallow and tinny. I had to unhook them after a short period. But now they have some depth that wasn't there before.

My B&W front sound better as well. From what I understand, B&W speakers need to have clean power from the amp/receiver. I always thought this was bogus until I heard it with my own ears. The receiver brings out instruments that I never knew was on the CD. But the greatest difference is playing DVD's. WOW!!! All sorts of sounds are coming at me now. I hope this anwers your question even though I did not get technical.

About your bass problem. It may be you have a defective receiver. It could be defective in it's bass management. It does happen to every brand of reciever out their. Or it could be a difference preference between well established bass from the 1050 and the muddy bass from the sony. I don't know, just some thoughts. What is the frequency range of your Polk's? If you are thinking of purchasing speakers, start with a sub. I have the Boston PV600 and it is a great sub for a great price. This would give you the low frequency foundation. Keep us posted on your problem.

I'm glad to hear you like your E-76C, I'm also thinking of about using that speaker for my center. One more thing Hockeyfan6781, I was wondering have you heard the Cerwin Vega E-706. You see I was thinking of about using 3 E-706's for surrounds. Do you think E-706's would make good surrounds or not?

Yes, I've heard of the E706. They would make good surrounds, I myself have been thinking about the e705 or 706 for my surrounds but haven't decided yet... Check out ebay, I see the 706's on there all the time below $100.
