I have read the 1070 manual, but just want to be clear about this point. I want to use my existing 350 watt/channel amps for the front speakers and use the 1070 amps for everything else.

I assume this can be done with no problem and that the volume control on the 1070 will in fact adjust the front speaker volume as well as the center and surround speakers.

Is my assumption correct on this point. I have two Carver Platinum Edition speakers which are wonderful, but they do need a little more power in some cases than the 65 watts supplied by the 1070.

Thanks for any feedback.

That can be done with no problem at all - just connect the left and right pre-amp outputs to your existing amps and connect the other speakers straight to the 1070's binding posts. The pre-amp outputs are controlled by the same volume control as the internal amps.
