How to prevent surround mode switching?

Hi,
Recently purchased the 1070, great component but quite buggy. For the CD input, I'm using the digital out of a Squeezebox 2 connected to Coaxial 1 on the 1070. From the Input setup menu, I select the surround mode to be stereo. Despite this, whenever I first take the Squeezebox out of standby and play a track, the 1070 switches from Stereo to one of the ProLogic modes. Very annoying indeeded and I have to fight with the 1070 in order to get the Stereo mode back. Once in Stereo mode, the 1070 stays there on the rest of the tracks playing via the Squeezebox until the 1070 and SB2 are turned off.
I get mode switches also on the video and dvd inputs, but understand why the switching occurs depending on the content of the digital stream.
The latest firmware listed in the forum sticky is loaded in the 1070.
Any suggestions? Thanks!

Hi Jim, I also find this to be inconvenient... I can get my 1070 to lock on any surround preset DD, DTS,DPL-II-X, 7 channel stereo for individual sources...in the input menu...but not ''plain Jane'' stereo  I just can't get it to stick ! What's up with that ? Is it because we use digital audio ? does that matter ? Is it a firmware thing ? Please someone...tell us what we're doing wrong... Thanks for any insight....

I'd prefer to have whatever surround mode is configured on a given input to be the default, period, no switching. If I want or need to switch modes because the digital content doesn't match the mode, then a press of the button on the remote or front panel would then do it.

That's all fine... but I believe we're talking about plain stereo signal...not being recognized as stereo signal... I don't require DPL-IIX or 7 channel stereo with my music... is there a way around this? other than scrolling each and everytime... the tuner can do it...why not the rest ?

This is sort of curious, since I was under the impression that the 1070 and 970 allowed for this sort of memory. The 970 announcement newsletter included the following comment about the 1070 firmware update released at the same time the 970 was launched: Bringing things full-circle, during the development and extensive beta testing of the Model 970 we made some improvements to the original operating software base of the Model 1070. These changes address a number of suggestions made by you, our Outlaw customers, including “surround mode stickiness” so that your “last chosen” modes remain. Since I use a DVD player for both DVD playback and CD playback, I've always set up my processor (both my 990 and the 950 I had before that) so that one input always produced stereo (specifically upsampled stereo in the case of my 990) with PCM stereo sources while having another input always set up to apply Pro Logic II processing to Dolby Digital 2.0 and PCM stereo sources. I understood the 1070 and 970 to behave in the same manner.

There doesn't appear to be any "stickiness" on the inputs, with exception like Laventura stated to the Tuner. Each input, CD, DVD, cable box sending in digital data over the coaxial jacks, "does it own thing" irregardless of the chosen input setting. I'm running the firmware that's mentioned in the first topic of this forum.

Hi gonk, I checked my firmware( #10700508081351) not the most recent... so it's most probably the source of my problem... I'll get it updated this week... and see from there if it works... Thanks again for your knowledgeable input...

If we're both running different firmware levels and still have the same problem ?? I'd be really curious to see if the problem is corrected when you update. Please report back. Thanks!
