Hi,

I had been planning on purchasing components to build a HT system, but for now I am going to put that on hold and use a 2 channel system. I am purchasing a set of Orb MOD2's (4 ohm speakers) with their Super-8 sub and use it in my living room & connecting dining room (LR: 22 x 14 & DR: 11 x 11). The rooms are open to my kitchen and upstairs hallway.

Right now I have a Yamaha Receiver (HTR-5150) - 70w X 7ch or 100w X 2 ch (8 ohms) or 145w X 2 ch (4 ohms). I was looking to purchase the outlaw 1070 receiver, but wanted to see if I would need to boost the power by also purchasing an amp.

Does anyone use this receiver for mainly stereo listening rather than home theater? I know the receiver should be fine to fill the room, but does anyone recommend buying an amp (maybe the 7075 or 7125?) to boost the power?

Once I am ready for the HT system (for a different room), I was most likely leaning towards separates (990/7500 combo), but for the 2 channel system I thought this might be overkill for mainly stereo listening in the living room.

Any thoughts on this?

Thanks.
HTF

Have you considered getting in line for the RR2150 stereo receiver instead?

I was looking at the RR2150, but I also wanted the digital inputs. I've read some rave reviews about the unit. I understand it;s been on backorder for quite while.

One other unit I've been looking at for a stereo reciever with digital inputs is the Music Hall Maven 100. Any recommendations on this unit vs. the RR2150?

From what I read...
the RR2150 is very good...to generate desire.
but how long can you wait...
In these digital times,
where computer, audio and video gear interact...
you'll have to decide your priorities...

I chose to be impatient...
I've just ordered a 1070...
can't wait to hear it...see it...feel it...
I'm getting my Mirage sub fixed for the occasion...

Good luck with the dilemma...
