I recently heard an NAD t753 and really liked the sound: warm and musical..What can I expect to hear with the Outlaw?

In my opinion, the NAD T753 and the Outlaw 1070 are the best of the $900 receivers when it comes to musical sound quality. However, I wouldn't purchase a new a receiver that was not software upgradable (I'm not sure if the T753 has this capability or not).

I used to own a T742 and T752, assuming the sound of the T753 is similar to those models I'd characterize the NAD 'sound' as being more in-your-face than the Outlaw. I found vocals to be very forward sounding with the NAD, bass to be somewhat heavy and the highs seemed to be rolled off. You may prefer this type of sound, or you may hear something completely different

The T753 model has also been out for over 2 1/2 years and is probably going to be replaced with a newer model soon. If you do puchase one, you should get a substantial discount on one, or wait a while longer for the new line to come out.

The 1070 has some nice additional features such as bass management on analog inputs including an 80Hz analog crossover, lip-sync delay and software upgradibility. I also thought the 1070 was livlier than the NAD with movies.

The NAD T753 does have more power than the 1070 though. I do miss the T752 on those rare occasions when I could crank it up to ear-damaging levels for a song or two.

Thanks for your input! I appreciate it. I want to be able to audition an Outlaw and am looking for for someone in Columbus, Ohio or vicinity that would be open to letting me hear their system.

I'm with John on this one: I won't buy a system that isn't firmware upgradeable ever in the future. Basically both of us went through some minor, but highly irritating problems with the 1070 and Outlaw pecorrectly it with amazing speed (i.e. a little over a week). If the firmware update ability wasn't there it would have been something you'd need to send back in to the factory and would have been a huge pain. As it was it was just a few irritating hours of unplugging everything, wrestling it over to the computer, updating, and then reinstalling.
