to say a more mass produced receiver like the Pioneer 1015?

is it just a matter of better quality and more powerful parts and construction?

curious to see what people have to say why they bought the Outlaw 1070 over something like the Pioneer 1015 or any any other product in that price range...

thanks in advance

There's an assortment of differences - quality, features (DVI switching is a pretty rare thing, as is the ability to select analog or digital bass management on the 7.1 analog input), and customer support (you can pick up the phone during east coast business hours and only have to go through one layer of phone system automation to get to a person at Outlaw, plus the online support system, plus this forum).

I don't think I've seen a direct comparison between the 1070 and the Pioneer 1015, but I have seen a comparison between the Yamaha 2500 (acting as a pre/pro only) and the 1070's processor sibling the 970. In that comparison , Doug917 came away feeling that the 970 was comparable to the 2500 for movies and somewhat better for music.

When talking about support the most recent update to correct video issues is the best example of responsive customer service I've ever seen.

A problem was noticed and reported with the component video switching causing some image problems on the 1070. From the time it was posted to the forum here Outlaw worked internally along with their overseas manufacturing plant and Texas Instruments (who provided some of the video processing hardware) and had a patch available in just over a week. All of this being done in the two weeks just before Christmas.

I've never in my life seen a company that's so responsive to thier customers and willing to resolve those little bugs that sometimes crop up.

Oh yeah, and their products sound fantastic and are wonderfully priced. What is not to love?
