Has anyone else had the problem where they will have a component turned on, and the 1070 is set to the proper source, but it doesn't seem to get a signal? When this happens, if I change the input once, and then change it back, it will lock onto the signal.

I've turned AutoPolling off for the digital inputs. (The XBox's input is set to DolbyDigital, CD to Stereo, DVD to Dolby Digital; it automatically seems to switch to DTS for DTS movies, and the computer input is set to Stereo.)

Edit: Actually I wonder if this has anything to do with my 1070 not working at first, and then when I first attempted (and failed) the firmware update, it started working. Later I tried the firmware update and it worked.

I have had the exact same experience. My 1070 was DOA until I did a firmware update, and I have the same switching problem, only with the audio format not video.

Sounds like this could be a common issue.

For me too, it only happens with the audio, sorry for not clarifying that more.

Yes, happens to myself also (probably 10 times so far). I've also had to turn off the 1070 and turn it back on to get the sound up.

Another issue I've run into is the 1070 "sticking" with a format in stereo mode. That is, on a few select CDs, I can't toggle between formats, i.e. if I'm playing in STEREO I can't change to 5 STEREO or any other format.

I'm crossing my fingers that the upcoming firmware update mentioned in the newsletter will fix this issue, but who knows.

I just got my 1070 a week ago. Here is the problem, when I change TV channels the audio disappears until I cycle/press the Dolby button on the remote. Then audio comes back. Was this fixed in the update? Should I already have the update. I could not find out what is addressed in the update. How do I determine if I have the update or not? What should I try? Thanks, Eric

The current update related solely to a component video switching bug. An update released in December (around the time that the 970 started shipping) adjusted the way the 1070 remembers what surround mode the user selected previously for a given input and audio format. There is work in progress to track down a bug relating to the unit (mostly 970's from the feedback that's been showing up in the forum, but I suspect it affects the 1070's equally) losing audio in some cases. This may be what you are experiencing, in which case it would probably be useful to Outlaw for you to report the exact circumstances - make and model of source, coaxial or optical input, audio signal formats (Dolby Digital, PCM, ...), and 1070 input's settings. This thread includes instructions for determining what firmware version you have.

I have two questions that might help. First, do you have auto polling turned on for that input? (It may default to on.) If so, I'd suggest turning it off. Second, what is the surround mode specified in the input menu (in the 970's menu, this is under "INPUT CONFIG" and the specific input being used for TV watching)?

I lose audio in some cases whether I'm using analog or digital inputs, and it only comes back when I switch the input and swith back. I have autopolling turned off for every input, and it happens with the analog input on tv (set to DPLII-M), as well as sometimes with my Xbox optical input (set to Dolby Digital), and other inputs as well.

This is a known issue with 1070/970.. They are working on an update.

Regards,

Charlie

There is a thread on this in the 970 forum.
