Hi All,

I just set up my 1070, connected to Klipsch Quintet II bookshelf speakers and a LFM-1. Popped in a DVD and didn't hear anything. Turned up the volume to -30db (which is damn loud on my prior Kenwood amp) and still didn't hear much. I have to turn the volume all the way to about 0db to get decent sound, and it still doesn't seem to drive the LFM like my previous amp did. I know that there is some variance in sound levels between amps, but this seems excessive.

I am sure I must be doing something wrong, but I can't figure out what. The settings on the amp are the factory defaults (i.e. 8ohms, small speakers, etc.)

Any suggestions?
What sound level do you have to turn it up to until it's "loud"? (I know, loud is a relative term, but at 0db, shouldn't this amp be screaming?)

You mean you turned the volume down to -30 since the default level is -25 when the unit turns on, unless you disabled or changed that. Anyways, on my 1070, driving large Polk towers and an SVS Pb12 plus/2, -15 is just a bit too loud for me in a 20x16x8 room. Of course -15 for me doesn't mean much to you since I am not calibrated to reference levels.

I would say double check your speaker connections and interconnects, and use the internal test tones with an SPL to calibrate your sub - make sure you have the bass management toggle set to "digital" if you are using the 7.1 inputs when running the test tones.

Thanks, Ranger. I turned the volume down to -70 when I first powered up, and then turned it back up tp -30. Expected it to be a lot louder. I think that at -15 and -10, it should be loud enough to make my wife come down to the basement and yell at me. Not happening. =)

I will check my speaker connects again, and perhaps run out and get a SPL meter. Am I correct to assume, from other posts, that at 0db volume, the SPL reading should be between 68db-75db?
