Well, when comparing the 1070 to the DPR 1005 and 2005 it looks like you'll get more digital audio inputs, more component video inputs, DVI switching, the option of analog bass management on the 7.1 direct analog input, and a lower price tag. I haven't kept close track of HK's line in a number of years (had a bad run-in with one of their CD changers) and had to dig a bit to find out what they meant by "Digital Path" - as I initially suspected, the manual indicates that it's a digital switching amp. That's a technology that I think has a lot of merit, and I've seen reviews of some of the first generations of digital amps that are very promising, but I don't know anything specific about how the sound from the DPR line's digital amps fares compared to a more conventional amp design such as that offered by the 1070.
