Anyone done a comparison between these two? Wondering about the power difference as the Denon is 125w per channel vs 65.
One system I'm setting up is all Klipsch with RF 35 mains.
The other will be using era design 5's for the mains. I don't know if any of you are familiar with era but they sound incredible but need a lot of power unlike Klipsch.
Thanks

I haven't heard of a comparison between the two yet, but I will offer up a question to the discussion: is the Denon's 125W rating with all channels driven? I ask because the 1070's 65W is, and I recently saw a review of a 130W Yamaha receiver that measured out at 38.3W/channel with five channels driven at 1kHz. It's not a Denon, so the rating disparity may not apply (or may not be as pronounced), but it does reinforce why Outlaw made such an issue of the all channels driven rating on the 1070.

On a totally subjective note, I watched Constantine (the movie) the other night and the 1070 blew me away! It definitely had ample power and I enjoyed every minute. Thanks, Outlaw, for reigniting my love of home theater.

I believe the Denon will do from 77 Watts per channel with all Channels driven to over it's rated 120 Watts per channel with 2 channels driven, like the Yamaha it does drop however not nearly as much. I suspect the Denon has the edge over the 1070 although either unit is excellent, a win/win scenario.
Approximate Denon Out-Put: 2 Channels - 127 Watts 5 Channels - 104 Watts 7 Channels - 77 Watts
(Info from Audioholics/Home Theatre Magazine)

Indeed, while I've had problems getting my speakers trimmed up to reference level for some reason I've never been wanting for power. The other day when watching Fight Club I was almost afraid I had hurt my speakers (and, incidentally, ears) during the mid-air collision fantasy. With the power to spare in this I'd say there's a danger of creating an inverse relationship between how much I love it and how much my neighbors hate it. Gotta remember, home theater should only be used by those who can use it responsibly
