I am not trying to scare anyone away from the 7125 or any of the outlaw products. I just think that I myself was looking for a bigger leap than the 7125 is seemingly giving me with my old Nad as the preamp. Your klipsch rf7's are more efficient than my 90db polks so factor that in as well as the improved performance of the 990 and that combo may well work for you.

Wow lightning quick responce! smile I probabbly will go with the 7125. Hard to decide when you can't demo them. Still debating whether to buy now or wait till I am closer to being ready for them. The biggest problem is I haven't heard the speakers in my home yet. I still have them boxed up and don't want to hook my old Sony reciever up to them. I guess if they sounded good with that then anything abouve it would be golden...lol

Also what will the 7500 be? I don't think I have seen aything on that.
Thanks

I'm apparently reading challenged tonight... You said Ref 25 and I read RF-7. The Ref 25 are 97dB efficient , which is still quite good, and Klipsch actually looks to recommend 125W max power for them.

The 7500 will be the replacement for the 755 - 200Wx5, new faceplate, and balanced inputs (five channel sibling of the 7700, which will be the 770's replacement).

rdperry,

Do you still have the Outlaw 1050 around? It might be interesting to hook the 7125 amp up to that receiver and see what you think. The NAD T752 actually hit 92w x 5 in bench tests, so it's no slouch in the amp department. I used to own one but the left front channel went while it was still within the return period, so I just returned it.

Now I'm patiently awaiting the arrival of my newly ordered 1070. smile

I wish that I still had my 1050 or any of my other 5 receivers that I recently sold so that I could use one of them as a preamp and compare my results. I know that that the Nad 752 had some solid all channels driven numbers I just thought that the 7125 would offer some increase in dynamics. If anything the way I have it set up now the Nad sounds a little more dynamic alone than the 7125 sounds running thru the 752. I dont even have any friends that have receivers that have preouts so that I could borrow theirs and see how the 7125 runs with something else as the preamp. I feel like I am missing something but I am unsure what it is. Fourtunatly I have the day off today so that I can tinker with it.

rdperry,

One reason why you may not hear a difference is that you are operating the amps within their intended region of operation. Example: a 50 WPC amp putting out 1 watt will sound may not at all sound different than a 200 WPC amp putting out the same 1 watt (assuming both amps are comparable in quality).

As others have said, the Nad is no slouch in the amp department, or as a preamp either. And if it did measure 92 WPC all channels driven, that means the 7125 outputs 35% more WPC all channels driven. What does the extra 35% WPC equate to in practice: about 1.25 dB extra output.

Your speakers are real efficient. The 7125 provides the power you need. Unfortunately, so did the Nad.

I called and talked to Steve at Outlaw today and told him of my situation and he assured me that there should be a difference in the dynamics of the Nad and the 7125. He said that he thought it was the output impedence or something of the like that was causing a weaker signal from the Nad out to the 7125 and I tend to have the same feeling. I requested an return autorization and he said he would get it mailed out to me. After a litte consideration I decided to list the Nad on ebay and use the procceds to fund a new Outlaw 970. If I get the 970 and I am still unsatisfied then the 7125 can go back and I will get one of the 200 watt amps soon to be released. Thanks eveyone for your help during this frustrating situation and I will keep you posted on my progress.

Hey rdperry,

Did you go ahead with the 970 purchase?

John

Ya I got the 970 but I busted one of my speakers moving stuff around to run all my wires. I was going to return it but decided to keep it and try to find a new speaker. Long story short I now have the whole system up and running and love it. I dont know what it was about using the nad 752 as a preamp but it really limited the dynamics of the 7125. I plan on giving a full review after I have had some time to get more familar with the whole system. I am very glad that I kept the 970 and 7125 it is a vast improvment over the receivers that I have had in the past.
