I just got this sub last week and I have a small issue. First I have it set up thru the line level input to my Dennon AVR 5700. It does sound very good and blended great with my Concerto's however...... It makes a loud thump when I turn the cd player on/off and when it changes tracks also during dvd playback each time the previews change or when changing something at the menue screen. I tried the high level (speaker cable to sub then out to speakers) and did not have that problem but it did not sound as good. So..... Is it the sub or my reciever??? Any Ideas.

My initial suspicion is that it is the receiver, especially since it seems related to times when the digital signal is being acquired or lost.

Gonk,

I think you could be right. I am going to get another one and I guess that will answer the question.

Next queston then is that thump going to damage the sub??? should I use the high level??? The thump is not distorted but just a strong thump.

My suspicion is that the thump isn't damaging, but I can certainly understand the concern. Do you have a sound meter? Might be useful to know how loud it is...

Ok, so I got the second woofer and...... It is not the sub, however I am starting to think it may be the house because when I turn the gas fireplace on it thumps. So what do ya think, an RFI filter and/or a ground loop isolator? The shack has one but I hesitate on the quality then there is Jensens isolators much more spendy though. Any thoughts?

This will be my last post on this subject. I finaly tried the Jensen Sub Isolator. No dice! It has to be some fault in the reciever. I did try using the front pre amp outs with the sub and did not have any problems it is only when I use the LL out. I think it may be time to retire the 5700 to the bedroom. Now to wait on a new Pre amp from Outlaw.
