I have noticed that when turning on my amp I must "kick" the volume up so the LFM-2 will sense the signal. Since I find this to be a pain (especially at night when folks are trying to sleep), and enjoy the sub even at low volumes, I have turned the sub to the on position instead of auto detect. I don't mind leaving it on all the time unless it might potentially harm the sub or shorten it's life expectancy. Also, it is too dificult to reach behind it to turn it on and off all the time.

It's not a bad thing (the sub's digital amp is pretty efficient), but it can probably be avoided. If you've having trouble with the auto turn-on, you might consider turning down the volume knob on the sub's amp and then increase the subwoofer trim on your receiver to get back into calibration. This will increase the volume of the signal being sent to the sub, allowing the auto-sensing to work more reliably and without any intervention on your part.
