Just picked up a used 990 a couple of weeks ago for my second system. I've done some searching through the forum on the bass management issues, but haven't found out clearly what they were.

This was a 2007 unit and has not been updated tot he most current firmware. Anyone able to point me to an informative thread, or give a quick summary of what the issues were?

Thanks.

BB

I have asked for a summary of the specific changes that were implemented in the last firmware update and Outlaw refuses to publish them.
Their reply was, "search the threads".
Now that's customer service.

OK. Simple question. Can the 7.1 analog input bypass all A/D conversions whatsoever with any settings?

If not, this thing is worthless for the purposes for which I bought it. I'd have been better off with my 950 that I handed down to my brother in law.

If all speakers are set to "large" then the 7.1 Direct input is left in the analog domain.

Perfect. Then I am all set.

Thanks Gonk.

Although my brother in law will be disappointed if he finds out he missed out on a free upgrade to the 990 when I swapped with him.

Any reason why this would be affected by having subwoofer set to "no" at the same time?

My suspicion is that if the sub is set to "no" then the 990 sees it as you needing some bass management, and that you thus need it for the 7.1 Direct input as well.
