Folks I need help.I just connected my new 990 last night. I upgraded from 950. Well, to my utter disappointment it is frozen in the tuner mode. Nothing works. I reset the unit twice, but it returns to the tuner mode. Even the remote is dead.I want to know if I am doing something wrong or if I got a defective unit.

I know that this might be a dumb question, but did you remember to push the TNR button on the remote first? If so, and nothing still happens, please call Scott at Outlaw tomorrow morning. He will take care of the problem.

Peter has identified the most common mistake (and it does happen to folks). I'd add another question - can you change inputs using the front panel? (Press "INPUT" and then use the navigation buttons to scroll through the options.)

Thanks a lot. THR worked. Also, post pressing the input the navigation is working great. Question - when I press MENU it says defeat ON. What is defeat?

There are two "MENU" buttons on the remote. The button that says "Menu" in white above the button says "Tone" on the button itself. That button provides tone control for the 990, but on some devices (such as DVD players) it will provide menu access. The button directly beneath the "9" says "Menu" on the face of the button and "Enter" above the button. That button brings up the 990's setup menu, but may provide an "Enter" function for some other devices.
