Does the Outlaw Audio 990 Have A Mono Mode (for testing speakers, etc)?

I am recapping my various Klipsch Heritage speakers: Klipschorns, LaScalas, Heresy Is and IIs.

As part of testing things out and A-B'ing the HIs and HIIs, etc, it was suggested that rather than running in stereo mode, as Lt and Rt signals are often a bit different, use a mono signal output to each speaker that one is testing. In this way only room factors should influence any potential difference in sound. However, I can't find any mono sound field (just stereo, bypass, PL II, etc.).

So, is there a mono (even if you have to use keycode, like finding the software version)?

If not, and if you don't have a reasonable mono source, like an old record (which is pain for this purpose), what do people recc?
I have been using stereo/bypass/upsample so far.

Thanx

There is not a "mono" mode. Are you trying to deliver the exact same signal to both left and right channels? You could try creating an audio file on the computer (downmix a stereo source to mono and copy it to both channels) and then either burning a CD or using a media player to play the track in stereo mode (which will not apply any matrix processing). You could also connect the left (or right) channel output of a source to a splitter and feed both left and right inputs with it.

yes

no idea as to how to do the stereo to mono downmix.

i think the y splitter idea might work.

Gonk--

I was able to use the DTD video type download on the 990.
I did not use a SPL meter yet, but some sounds seemed much louder or softer than others. Is it supposed to be that way? Where should I look for test tones that should send out the same SPL for each frquency as measured on a Radio Shack analog SPL? How do you adjust your system to "even things out", beyond the SMS-1 that I ordered (which I think is only good for bass)?

990 Pre/pro, MC240 tune amp or OA 750 SS amp, Klipshorns, LaScalas, Academy center, and Heresy speakers.

And as always--thanx smile )
