I have a 990/7700 combo.

WHen we got back from dinner tonight, went to catch up on some TV. turn on the 990/7700 with the video1 button it comes on, picture comes on, then about 3 - 5s later it shuts back off. The LCD display never comes up.

Unplugged/replugged it, no change.

Any troubleshooting tips?

Trekkie, hate to say it, but that does sound like something died in the 990. I understand you to mean the 990 shuts down and there's not video or audio. Does the 990 come on again for 3-5 seconds, or is it totally dead after the first episode? I have heard of losing a fuse which could be the case if the unit does not power on at all now, but otherwise this sounds like it will need Outlaw service - suggest contacting them.

Same thing happened to my 990 about a month ago. Ended up sending it back to Outlaw and they had it for about 3 weeks. Works fine now. The return procedure went smoothy, providing you have the original shipping carton.

yeah i ended up getting it sent in. just got the notice that it's shipping back. it was kinda funny when I hooked the TV up I looked at my wife and said 'oh hey, the TV speakers work'
