Hey again all,

I have just about finihsed re-installing my 990/7700 in my system, installed the new firmware update and set my speaker sizes, L/R to large, center small, surrounds small, set the crossovers. I have 2 Sunfire Jr subs and I have not looked yet to see if their is any kind of LFE or bass settings to add or change etc. I am going to go thru it tonight but just wanted to get a heads up.

Thanks.

I just installed a new 990 in my living room system and went through this with an Infinity ssw 210 powered sub. The sub has a variable cross over and a volume control built in.

My main speakers are Magnepan MG 1.6QR's which go down very nicely to about 35 or 40 hz so I just want the sub to kick in about at that spot. I set the subs crossover at 100 hz to basically by pass it, and the cross over in the 990 at 40 hz for both the sub and the main speakers.

I'm trying not to "watch" my tigers turn their first round game into a nail-biter, so here are some things to keep in mind:

If you leave the fronts set to large, you can select either "LFE Only" or "LFE+L/R" for the sub output. Of the two, I'd lean toward "LFE Only" as it avoids an intentional doubling up of bass signals.

You may want to seriously consider changing your fronts to small and dialing in the crossover point. It's a very rare case where front speakers are really full-range and thus warrant being run as large when there's a sub in the system. What speakers do you have in front?

Strindl is exactly right about the subwoofer controls: set your Sunfires' up so that the onboard crossover is either bypassed entirely ot set to its highest value.

Don't forget to calibrate the system once you have everything else situated.

The -3dB point for the KLF-20's is 34Hz. I'd recommend running them as "small" with a crossover point of 60Hz, although you could also try 40Hz.
