This may sound simple however I am not sure of the connection, so if somone could provide me help I would appreciate it. The connection between 990 and a mono block is what, female to female, male to female or whatever?

Male to Female

Depends on the type of connections.
Balanced uses XLR 3 conductor connectors and the cable must be male to female.
Unbalanced uses RCA jacks and both the 990 and amplifier have female jacks; the cable must have male connectors on each end.
