I have had my 990 for about 18 months or so. I love my Pioneer Elite for audio but bought a Samsung BD-P2550 blu-ray player which I will hook up through the 7.1 inputs to use the new sound fields.

I also bought a HDMI switcher which I will use between my HD DVR and the Pioneer elite as my tv has two HDMI inputs (and my remote can control the switcher as part of the macro scheme).

My plan is to hook up the Pioneer Elite to another of the video audio inputs with the optical or coaxial for surround sound, as well as two channel audio. Will the sound management still allow my subwoofer to work in "Stereo" mode? I assume it will work fine for dts or DD when showing movies over the DVD if those look better than upconverted on the Blue-ray.

I have not updated my firmware with the recent update.

Thanks for any suggestions as to the "best" hook-up scheme.

If you are running optical or coaxial from the Pioneer to the 990, you will have full use of the 990's bass management, surround processing, and other capabilities.
