I'm doing some research and trying to decide which universal remote I wish to buy. I've read Gonk's raves about the remotes he has purchased and used in the past. But I have not yet made up my mind. What I have decided is that that I want a remote with RF capability. Thus, what I am looking for is not just a remote but a RF extender. One that allows me to plug it into the IR in jack on back of the 990. I don't particulary like the harmony extender as it requires flashers pointed at the IR receiver on whatever item you are trying to control although that might be necessary for my cable box. So any suggestions, any extenders out there that both flash and allow a direct connect? Thanks for the help

The 990's IR input is not necessarily the easiest to plug straight into. With the IR distribution system I use, it requires a special interface module, and I'd expect similar results from an RF extender from URC or Harmony. The cable box I had that had an IR input behaved just like the 990, so it's fairly likely you'll have a similar issue there even if it has a rear IR input.
