I need the previous firmware for the 990. The update has done nothing but screw up the dd decoding. My subwoofer is playing full range all the time and its driving me nuts. If anyone has a copy of the file PLEASE!! contact me. I am not looking for any advise on this I just want to go back to the old version when life was good and my 990 did what it was supposed to do. Thanks in advance

I know you did not ask for advice, but...

The new firmware is not supposed to cause what you are describing. Therefore, there is a chance that the problem is your 990. In which case, the process of reloading any other firmware version may give you similarly unpredictable results.

I recommend that you give Outlaw a call instead of trying older firmware versions (if that's even possible).

Thats fine and Im sorry if I came across cocky in my post. But heres the deal. i just got done troubleshooting the problem once again. Using four different dvds switching between dolby digital and dts and 2 channel. In DTS mode and stereo crossover works fine. Regular dd 5.1 the sub plays full range and never did this until the update. If it is a problem with the 990 It was caused by the update and I am convinced of that regardless of what anyone seems to think. Its a process of elimination and Ive eliminated everything else. So if anyone has a copy of the old firmware please pm me.

Oh no, not another bass management issue...
Anybody has equipment and time to check this out?
Davin, can you post your settings for speaker configuration and crossovers?

I guess the rest of us will have to check our sub to see if we suffer from the same problem.
I did the 990 upgrade when it came out a few months ago, and have my fronts/center set to small 80Hz and surrounds set to 100Hz.

Hello All,

The LFE channel should not be confused with the subwoofer output. The LFE channel is bandwidth limited by the source material itself (120 Hz for DD and 80 Hz for DTS). Keep in mind, those frequencies are well below the fourth order 200Hz HPF/LPF setting for the subwoofer channel in the Model 990's bass management software. Applying a 120Hz limit on the subwoofer output in order to coincide with the DD LFE specification would create a gap in frequency response when the higher crossover options in the Model 990 are used.

In addition, please note that both DVD-Audio and SACD had provisions for full bandwidth "LFE" tracks which were used to create a "height" channel.

The above not withstanding, if you wish to roll back to an earlier version of the software, please email customerservice@outlawaudio.com

Best,

Scott

I think the reason alot of other people are not seeing this problem Is because they're subwoofer probably have built in crossovers. I and running 2 pro sound amp for my sub that do not have them built in. I rely on my 990 to take care of it
