Well I'll answer my own question.

Got a pair of the SVS MTS-01 's yesterday and I am in 2 channel heaven. Great combo of these speakers and with the 990. Haven't done any real movie or multichannel listening yet but music has never sounded so good.

Probably will replace all speakers with the rest of this series (MBS-01's and an MCS-01) before the end of the year.
