For some reason my 990 cannot find DD when watching movies. All other modes are available with TV/CD & DVD playback except DD. DD + Wide isn't available either. Has anyone had this problem?

The "Dolby Digital" mode will only appear when playing a Dolby Digital source.

It looks like you have satellite TV service. I'd double-check to make sure that both the satellite receiver and the DVD player are outputting a bitstream for Dolby Digital signals (not PCM). With CD's, Dolby Digital should never show up, so that at least makes perfect sense...

My 990 often looses the Dolby Digital connection from my Direct TV box. I then have to flip thru the TV input to recapture the sound.

Think that these problems are related???

I had a similar problem with my Charter DVR box. If I remember right, I think I even posted a thread on the Outlaw forum for help But if I hit Dolby Modes once on the 990, it would show ProLogic being used. If I hit it again, I could successfully lock onto the Dolby Digital signal. It got annoying checking every single time I flipped a channel.
Turns out it was some sort of issue with the DVR box that the 990 did not like. Somehow they couldn't initially lock each other onto the dolby digital stream. Due to other reasons, Charter had to replace my DVR box with a Moxi DVR and I have never had the problem since.
