I'd never seen this review, I figure it may be of some interest to those on the fence and need a new preamp now.

I thought (I could be very wrong) that there was an upgrade deal for the next gen preamp if you buy a 990. Can someone verify this?

There is, although it was not yet in effect when the AV Revolution review was published. Any 990 or 970 owner is eligible for $200 off a next-generation processor during the first six months that the new processor is shipping.

There's been no official word yet. Indications are that they were held up by the delays surrounding the Cirrus 49700, which has been in manufacturers' hands for just a couple weeks now. All we can do is guess, but if I had to make such a guess I'd put it at somewhere between late summer and Thanksgiving (hopefully closer to late summer - although I'd welcome an earlier arrival if they were able to do some good, detailed testing and still get production up and running sooner).
