I'm trying to connect a MacBook to my 990 via USB in order to play iTunes music and I'm not having any success.

I've set USB as the audio source for Video 5, tried a couple of different USB cables, scoured iTunes Preferences, etc for for audio settings, but I don't get any audio from the 990. I've tried both USB ports on the MacBook with no success.

Anyone had success using a MacBook using iTunes as a source for the 990 via USB?

I'm a PC person. I found the solution under the Mac's system preferences. That USB could open up all kinds of music server options! Well, now I'm going to do some fun testing between the Mac/USB and my OPPO/digital coax.

AvFan has it right, go to Mac Preferences and select Sound/Output - when you have your MacBook plugged into the 990, you should see it listed - just highlight and go!

I have an airport express and wirelessly connect to the 990. Works well. The USB port is an interesting option.

Retep, exactly how do you operate the 990 wirelessly from your MacBook?

Retep,

I re-read your post and I find it very interesting. Does the Airport Express output a digital audio signal via the USB to your 990 or are you using Apples special toslink connection? Are you wirelessly streaming from a laptop/MacBook to the Airport Express?
