Gonk, Great review on the 983H! Based upon what I've read there and elsewhere, it seems to me that for everything other than SACD and DVD-A, we would be better off using the digital out of the 983H and let the 990 do the processing. Do you concur? So in my 7.1 system, there really isn't a need to hook up the two back channel analog outs of the 983H since the 990 will do the PLIIx processing and send sound to the back channels when appropriate. And for SACD/DVDA I only need the 5.1 hookup from the 983H. Do you agree? Thanks, Ken

I concur - this is what I do, relying on coaxial out for everything except DVD-A and SACD.
