Hello Everyone,

Does anyone know a way to hook up my Marantz DV-9600 via firewire to the 990? Would be a nice to have since the Marantz can eliminate jitter via this route and still support hi-rez audio while eliminating all the interconnects in the back.

Thanks.

Alas, firewire never caught on - by the time it was able to offer the features it was capable of (DVD-Audio and SACD), HDMI was on the rise. As a result, firewire support on processors is almost nonexistent, and the 990 is among that huge majority that lacks firewire. There's no way to use the Marantz's firewire output with the 990.

Gonk,

Thanks. That's what I thought. Looks like I'll have to wait for Outlaw to come up with their 990 replacement with HDMI connectivity. At least my Marantz affords me the flexibility to use either Firewire or HDMI to capitalize on their anti-jitter feature and eliminate all the connections in the back.

Gonk,

Looks like I may not be an Outlaw much longer. Selling the Outlaw 990. Just purchased and tried a Pioneer Elite receiver being used as a preamp so that I can try the iLink feature of my Marantz universal player. I definitely like what I hear. Absolutely no grain or harshness whatsoever with greater detail and I am closer to the music. Fewer connectors used is a nice plus. Too bad iLink didn't catch on. The jitter-free technology works very well. The iLink is much better than Toslink and a great alternative to HDMI. It was a nice ride while it lasted.

Gonk,

I guess this means I will be an honorary Outlaw. Sold the Outlaw 990 yesterday in one day. The 990 is highly sought after. The Pioneer receiver as a preamp is working out very well for me. cool
