I finally got my Aragon 8008X3 amp back. It had a bad transformer and was in the shop since June. Anyways, when I hooked up the amp tonight, I pressed the autosetup. Everything worked fine but at the end of it, the menu said I needed to switch my front and rear speakers cause my front speakers were small and my rear speakers were large. I checked the settings and I have large for my fronts and small for my rears. Also, I have the xover set at 40hz for my fronts and 100 hz for my rears. Anyone know why the 990 is doing this?

Also- when the 990 was calibrating my Velodyne, on the second set of sounds the velodyne was popping a tad (I heard it pop twice dureing the second set of sounds). Is this normal? I have my sub volume (on the back of the velodyne) at 3 1/2. Anyone have any thoughts/ suggestions?

There are some previous posts on this topic, but the bottom line is the auto setup feature of the 990 works well for some and not so well for others. My suggestion is to invest in a Radio Shack SPL meter and set up the 990 manually if the 990's auto setup consistently gives odd results. I have noticed the 990 held most settings when I ran the auto setup after manually setting the crossovers, delay and level. The only one it tried to change was the subwoofer setting. I've not had a problem with a popping sub during setup. How loud was the pop in comparison to the test tones?

the setup actually did a good job. I was jst concerned about the message telling me to switch the speakers. I am sure there is some reason for this.

Regarding the sub- it popped twice per setup on the second set of sounds. I don't know how to rectify this. Maybe turning the volume of the sub up so it has a bit of headroom?

Does the sub pop during regular use or just during the setup? If just during the setup I wouldn't be too worried.

I've encountered this same problem in set up where the 990 thinks my surround speakers are larger than my mains. I suspect it's because the subwoffer kicks is to give the surrounds greater bass extention ( guess on my part). I've corrected this by setting all of the crossovers to 100hz before starting the self set up program, though generally, I just adjust the levels using an SPL meter.
I run a Velodyne sub also, but have never encountered any popping during set up.
