Does anyone know how the power supply in the 7125 compare to the power supplies that NAD uses?
I was holding out for the NAD 7155 receiver but NAD claims that it won't be aval. until mid January. After reading the reviews of the OUTLAWS I had to order one hope I'm happy?? Purchased 990/7125 today.

Compared to the power supply in just about anybody's receiver, the 7125 is going to be a step up. Check out the first few pics on my Outlaw pics page : the big toroid at the top is the power supply, plus you can see the heat sinks on each channel. This construction is going to be similar to what you'd likely find in NAD's separate power amps, but there's not enough space in a receiver chassis to achieve this kind of power supply or passive cooling in a receiver.

Thanks!! Anything special I should know about when I get my new toys?? I have B&W 603 fronts / 601 rears and matching center. I also have the less expensive Velodyne VX 10 sub. What are your thoughts on upgrading to the Outlaw 12" sub?? My listen room is somewhat small with wood floors. I do have several acoustic pannels around the room. Replacing a Old school Yamaha RX850 made in japan. I can't wait to become a OUTLAW!!!

Gonk,

On the 7125 or other toroid amps, are the channels limited? Say your using 3 channels of the 7. Are the three channels limited to 125 watts rms or is the unused channel power available. If so is this the same for other amps in the Outlaw line and possibly other mfg's. amps as well?

With any amp, the design if the individual channels would determine the maximum possible output, at which point the power supply determines how many channels can achieve that upper limit at any given time. As far as I know, the ratings for Outlaw's amps are what a single channel can do, such that using one channel of a 7125 by itself would not gain you any appreciable increase in power.
