Once I put the code of my Comcast set top box into the 990 remote, I can turn the unit off and on and change channels, which is all I want...actually changing channels is all I need. However, within a few seconds, the remote red light will blink twice and it loses the code. I am using the only code that works. Wondering if there's a solution for this?

That's odd. When you put the code in, the LED should blink twice and you should be able to test it. Is it blinking again after that and reverting to some other code? When you check the code (see page 42 of the manual), what code does it report back? Also, are you learning the code to the "CBL" device?

This happens only for the cable box. I can operate my TV fine. So, I press CBL, then press and hold set up, the LED blinks twice and I enter code 0467, it again blinks twice. I test the code with the on off and it works--turns off and then turns back on, or I can the change channel but only once. When I then try to use either the change channel button or the power button again, the LED will blink twice and nothing happens.

Upon further testing,....after the LED blinks twice, the remote will allow 1 function only, then the LED blinks twice. For example, I can change a channel, it then blinks twice. I have to press the CBL again to be able to change the channel channel up or down....getting two blinks each time I press a function.

It sounds almost like it's switching away from the cable device somehow. Not sure how that could happen. You might want to give Outlaw a call (or check in online ).
