I have my DirecTv HR-20 HD-DVR hooked up via DVI/HDMI as well as my HD-A2. I have a 96 inch screen and notice the difference between the DVI input and Component. I'd much prefer to use the DVI. I ordered a multiswitch from monoprice.com thanks to advice from GONK a long time ago. My question is how do I hook up the digital audio? I'm using an optical connection from both the HD-A2, and the HR-20. How do I connect the digital optical cable when the PS3 is going to be assigned the same input as my HD-A2?

Remember: the 990's video inputs are addressable. If you have an HR-20 and PS3 connected to an outboard switch, run optical cables from both directly to the 990 (I'll use optical2 and optical3 as examples) and connect the switch's output to the 990 (I'll use DVI2 as an example). Also connect the HD-A2, but in that case use DVI1 and optical1 (examples again). Then assign "Video1" to DVI1 and optical1 and rename it "HD-DVD." Assign "Video2" to DVI2 and optical2 and rename it "Satellite." Assign "Video3" to DVI2 and optical3 and rename it "PS3." Obviously you can mix and match inputs in this scenario to your heart's content.
