I realize that I may sound a bit like a broken record here, but code libraries inevitably are limited in nature. Outlaw didn't create the code library - they took the database that UEI had available to them, and UEI would seem to be one of the better choices (since they have a good database). I can't explain why the DVD-2200 is MIA, as it was released about a year before the 990, but I really think it's hard to claim that Outlaw dropped the ball.
One thing that I
would suggest for Outlaw's next generation is to seriously consider a basic learning remote, since that provides an end-run around code limitations. One example would be a version of Universal's RF10 (with the RF capability removed to save cost, if they would do that for an OEM product). That remote might also be an option for folks in search of an inexpensive remote for the 990 (it can be had at
Surf Remote for $30 , although Crutchfield wants $70 for it).
