Has anyone figured out the code to control a Denon 2200 with a 990?
Disappointed this info isn't readily available.
Any leads much appreciated.

Assuming that 0490 doesn't work (when assigned to the AUX device on the 990's remote, which is the one linked to the DVD player database), you might also try 0059 (borrowed from HiFi Remote ).

Thanks Gonk. Tried those - no response at all.

You might just try some common codes, then (0503, 0539, 0571). I'm not sure why Denon is deviating from the codes that are supposed to be "standard" for them, as the code database that the 990's remote uses is one of the most commonly-used around.

Thanks again Gonk, I'll give these a try.

Not too optimistic after cycling through 150 codes in Aux.

Does it really require rocket science for mfgr's to get codes? How about a phone call to the mfgr.?

There probably aren't that many DVD player codes in there, and there's actually an automated process for cycling through them in search of one that works (although I haven't tried it).

Code libraries are a sticky mess in some ways. You have component manufacturers, then you have remote manufacturers, and between the two is no central authority or management of remote codes. Outlaw is using one of the better sources for code libraries with UEI (they're a big player in that market), but even that isn't a sure thing.

You might be able to turn something up at Remote Central - a Denon DVD-2200 code that will work for a Radio Shack or One For All remote (both of which are manufactured by UEI) or for many of the cable box remotes around (many of which use UEI remotes) would work for the 990's remote as well.

I got a definitive answer from Outlaw and they do not support this player in their remote.
They tell me this after I spent hours searching for a code.
When I look at the codes in the manual and see only 1 code for Denon, I feel they have really dropped the ball on codes. I have 3 dedicated remotes from other gear and they all support the Denon and they all have multiple codes for Denon players.
Pretty pathetic.

I realize that I may sound a bit like a broken record here, but code libraries inevitably are limited in nature. Outlaw didn't create the code library - they took the database that UEI had available to them, and UEI would seem to be one of the better choices (since they have a good database). I can't explain why the DVD-2200 is MIA, as it was released about a year before the 990, but I really think it's hard to claim that Outlaw dropped the ball.

One thing that I would suggest for Outlaw's next generation is to seriously consider a basic learning remote, since that provides an end-run around code limitations. One example would be a version of Universal's RF10 (with the RF capability removed to save cost, if they would do that for an OEM product). That remote might also be an option for folks in search of an inexpensive remote for the 990 (it can be had at Surf Remote for $30 , although Crutchfield wants $70 for it).

Apparently the UEI database doesn't support Denon dvd players. I too had the 2200 and now have the 3930 and neither worked with my previous 950 remote and now the 990 remote. I called Denon and they were no help so we have to live with it.

Considering the price we paid for the 990 along with its features and quality, a remote that doesn't operate Denon dvd players is really no big deal.

The 2200 doesn't work with the Model 950's remote either? The Model 950 uses a Universal SL-9000 remote, entirely different database (and the other one that could be noted for its depth). More and more, it sounds to me like Denon decided to cook up their own code set (rather than using the Pioneer or Panasonic codes that I think they used initially) and didn't do enough about getting the new codes into the most commonly-used databases.
