Hello,on page 48 in your manual, it gives troubleshooting tips, and a "system reset" procedure. You may want to check that if you haven't yet.

Hello, on October 6th.. there is a topic on the 990 forum, "Just got my new 990....unable to assign audio inputs or make other callibrations". Is it possibly the same problem as yours?

I just got my 990 on Friday the 19th. I was able to get everything configured with no problem. After connecting everything all of a sudden nothing would work. I couln't change input, get the setup menu, volume nothing. I hit the input button on the face of the 990 then I could change my imputs. So what I did is took the batteries out of the remote for about 5 minutes or so, put them back in and everything is working great. It seems like the remote just froze up for some reason. Might try that.

What next? Here's the list of things to try: - Make sure you have a composite, s-video, or component video connection between the 990 and your TV. The 990's setup menu is only displayed on screen, and is only available via those three monitor outputs (not the DVI output or the record outptus).
- Make sure the TV is set to the correct input.
- If using the remote to engage the setup menu, make sure that you have pressed the "TNR" button first (so the remote is operating the 990) and that you are using the MENU button located by the number pad just above the channel up/down buttons. (There's a second button farther down the remote with an alternate label of "MENU", but that is not the menu button for the 990.)
- If turning the unit on doesn't display anything (front panel display stays dark, amp isn't triggered on), make sure the rear panel OPR/SVC switch is in the "OPR" position.
If none of that helps, you may need to give Outlaw a call and ask them for a hand.

Gonk
I have componet between the TV and the Dish DVR,then optical between the 990 and the DVR.
I will try the TNR button on the remote.I have booted up without the remote(no batteries) and with the remote.
Thanks for the help,I have not had enough time to contact Outlaw

I second Gonk's recommendation of checking the OPR/SVC switch. I actually had Outlaw send me a new 990 because I failed to notice that my original unit was set to SVC instead of OPR. I think I figured this out the day after they sent out a new one...

YES! I have component cables from the monitor to the 990 and then component from the DVR to the 990.Got every thing programed and am up and running!
The first thing I noticed,my speakers sounded much more open, tweaked it some and now have deep wide sound stage.
Going to watch a movie tonight.

The 990's menu is available over component (it is mine anyway). It shows up over whatever is playing (i.e. DVD, TV, etc.).

Yes, the 990's menu is available on all three analog video monitor outputs. The problem was that pegasus had initially not connected any of those analog video monitor outputs - just a component video connection directly from the satellite to the TV. Once he connected the 990's component monitor output to the TV, he was fine.
