We're talking about the MENU button above the channel buttons, right? (And not the TONE button that has a secondary label of MENU.) If you push the TNR button at the top of the remote, then the MENU button, it should cause the red LED to light up and bring up the 990's menu (when viewing the 990's component, s-video, or composite monitor output). If those two things don't happen, I'd call Outlaw or
contact them online . When in device modes other than TNR, however, I would expect to find some devices that don't make use of that button and thus don't cause the LED to come on when it is pushed.
