It seems that every button on my remote works except the menu button, it doesn't even make the red led light up. All the other buttons work and make the red led light up. Do you think the remote went bad?

We're talking about the MENU button above the channel buttons, right? (And not the TONE button that has a secondary label of MENU.) If you push the TNR button at the top of the remote, then the MENU button, it should cause the red LED to light up and bring up the 990's menu (when viewing the 990's component, s-video, or composite monitor output). If those two things don't happen, I'd call Outlaw or contact them online . When in device modes other than TNR, however, I would expect to find some devices that don't make use of that button and thus don't cause the LED to come on when it is pushed.

you are the jedi master, I got the menu to dispay by hitting tuner. I never use the remote so I ever change the inputs. I only use it for the on screen display and use a universal for everything else. I must of hit a button by mistake

also, i think i messed mine up trying to program it. how do you RESET the remote control to factory settings???

If you are talking about resetting the TNR device, I don't know - but I'd suggest giving Outlaw a call (or the electronic version thereof ). Back in the days when the 1050 was still shipping, several people re-programmed that button and ended up trading remotes with Outlaw to get one that had the proper programming.
