I have the 990 with the model 7100 and for the last 2 years everything hass been great. I have the Harmony 880 remote, and every once in a while my wife will get frustrated and then I get the phone call (picture does not work, etc.). This latest one has me stumped. Nothing I do will get my main zone speakers to work. Vidoe 1 or DVD, neither works. Room 2 still works fine. I even tried to go to Auto Setup, but I can't get the "start setup" to switch from "no" to "yes". When I look at the OSD, I do not see the speaker A like it shows in the manual, but I do not see anything that tells me what I am supposed to do. I am feeling pretty stupid and frustrated.

Thanks in advance for your help.

I've got a possible solution, and if I'm right it'll cure that "stupid/frustrated" feeling like a charm: hold the mute button down for about five seconds or so. There's a red indicator symbol in the lower right corner that tells you when the main zone is on - if it's not on, it means that the headphone jack is on and the main zone is off. Toggling between the two is done by holding the mute button down for several seconds (about 3 for the front panel, about 5 for the remote control).

That was it! Thank you so much. You are an incredible resource. If you are not on the Outlaw payroll, you should be.

Glad to help, Jerome. smile

I was fortunate to know the trick as the result of quizzing Scott on how the headphone jack worked back when I first got the 990 (only to realize that it was in the manual, of course), but I was reminded if it unexpectedly a year or so ago when our daughter latched on to the volume knob on the 990 and I found myself pressing the MUTE button while coaxing her away from it. In my distraction, I elected to just hold MUTE down, eventually of course engaging the headphones. It took me a few brief, confused presses of the MUTE button once the toddler was free from the processor and the cabinet door closed to realize what I'd done...
