I've been experimenting a bit with it just recently, in fact. It works very well. I'm using a two-port remote-controlled HDMI switch to feed two sources into DVI2. Since the 990's HDMI inputs are addressable (can be assigned to any video inputs) it works pretty well - one video input is set to use DVI2 and optical1, another is set to use DVI2 and optical2. I'm using this MonoPrice switch , which cost me $32.50 plus shipping and has discrete input codes for its two inputs. A couple additions to the device macros on my MX-700 make it almost transparent.

The only hiccup in my macros comes if the device I'm switching to isn't on yet, as the switch will default to HDMI1 if neither input device is on. As a result, selecting the Toshiba HD-A2 when it's not turned on yet requires one extra button push to re-send that "HDMI2" command to the switch. Likewise, if the HD-A2 is on but the 981HD is off, the switch may not accept the "HDMI1" command and may not automatically switch during the macro. I've got a button on the remote for both devices that lets me easily send the appropriate command, though, so it's not a problem - just a quirk of the switch that is most likely due to HDCP compliance.

I am returning the monoprice 3x1 switch which is hooked to dvi1 and they said for me to try the 4x1 switch because on the 3x1 switch I loose the picture after a few minutes and I am having the switching problem also between the ha2 and the sony bds300 and then I have the sony 400 disc changer on dvi 2 . Even with all 3 to the switch I have had nothing but problems. I also ordered the accell ultra hdmi switch ,which has not come yet, almost double the price and it got very good reviews. I will see which one works and return the other

Have you tried moving the Sony S300 to the 990 directly and letting the HD-A2 and DVD changer share the external switch? The HD-A2's HDCP handshaking with my TV has been pretty well behaved (takes a couple seconds after both the 990 and the MonoPrice switch get set correctly, but then it holds fine). The S300, on the other hand, I haven't tried and don't know if it'd work as well. If the HD-A2 is losing video also, of course, then this notion goes out the window...

they all work fine without the switch hookes directly to the 990 dvi input and I can switch them with no problem using the dvi.It is when the switch gets involved .

And when the switch is in the mix, they all have problems? It sounds like you are on the right track by changing switches, and if it helps any I have been able to make it work...
