Hi folks, It happened a few times recently. Last night it did not turn on again, either by the remote or the stand-by/on button of the 990. The orange pilot light turned to blue for a second or 2 and changed back to orange. Nothing happened.
I had ensured that the remote is on "TNR" Mode. I tried switching off the main power using the main power button at the back and even unplug the power cord at the back, several times. It did work in former incidents, but not last night no more.
Should I "RESET" the 990? I haven't call Scott yet.

Might as well do a reset. Anytime I've called for technical support, that's pretty much the first thing they're going to ask you to do.

If removing the power cord or turning off the main switch in the back and waiting at least several minutes before plugging it back in, or turning the main switch back on (to allow power supply capacitors to COMPLETELY discharge) didn't work, the reset isn't going to help. This sounds more like a hard failure than a glitch.

Otto, thanks for your quick advice. I will try it tonight and hope that my personal setting are still there. Tks. again.

Kscharf, Tk U too. Yap, I might be to impatient and did not wait sufficient time to plug it back.
We tell you folks the outcome tomorrow.

Gonk, where is the OPR/SVC Switch? Must be at the back of 990. I haven't touch anything at the back lately. I could turn it on the night before, only not last night!

Kwok,
Your settings will definitely NOT be there after the reset; make a note of them before starting. One thing that I've found useful is to take digital pictures of the on-screen display for all levels of the setup. I've done enough swaps, resets and firmware upgrades that it's very convenient to have a distinct description of how it's set.
gonk's idea of the SVC/OPR switch is a good one as well. Even if you haven't touched it, perhaps it was somehow "in between" and just started to make a contact with the "SVC" side of the switch.
Good luck.

Yep, OPR/SVC switch is on the back, and is labeled as such. You'll need a paperclip or little screwdriver to switch it, but it's there.

Otto, great advice. Tks. I will do the reset last priority. Yap, the manual says that all customised setting will be erased after reset. This is definitely a painful reset process. Hee heeeeeeee (bitter smile!)
