The product specs state that both the 990 and 1070 units can accept audio streams from a computer via their usb inputs, but the manuals online don't give much clue on how to actually DO this. Has anybody been able to stream mp3's from their computer to their Outlaw 'ceivers? What software was required on the PC end and how is the 'ceiver set up? Does it work with Linux? This is one cool feature that if it would work for me would put the 990 to the top of my short list.
Hi kscharf, I don't know about the usb on the 990... but I know the 1070 doesn't have one... I pass all audio via spdif optical....mp3's...wav...wma....AAC it's all good.... I do beleive you can do this with the 990...and it's usb input... or is that the 2150 ?

The 1070 doesn't have a USB port (may be thinking of the RR2150). The 990 and RR2150 can be connected via a USB cable, at which point they become a giant USB sound card (the best explanation I've been able to come up with) that will work with PCM stereo sources (so no using it for playback of DD or DTS soundtracks via USB). All you need to do is hook it up, let the computer find it, and start playing music with the media player of your choice (WinAmp, iTunes, ...).

Guess I WAS thinking of the RR2150 (I've read ALL the Outlaw user manuals online and got them confused I guess...). Seems like many receivers now have this feature.
